Censorship refers to the attempt to control people's
speech and stop various forms of human expression that is contrary
to an opinion that the government does not want to to be heard.
Often governments will claim that they wish to censor something
to make sure that society is protected, though it is more likely
to mean that government retains control of a situation they fear
getting out of hand. The suppression of ideas is a large part of
censorship, stopping certain sides of arguments being told, etc.
Less formal means of enforcing censorship also exist. Censorship
can strike out certain words, or make whole concepts and systems
illegal.
